Why Acanthus
The acanthus is the leaf carved into the top of a Corinthian column — the oldest ornament in Western building, and the one the Greeks chose to stand for growth that outlasts the person who planted it.
It's an odd name for a florist and a deliberate one. We think about flowers structurally: line, weight, shadow, the way a piece holds its shape across a long day. Prettiness comes second, and arrives on its own once the structure is right.
That approach is why the work has ended up in hotels and museums as often as in bouquets.
A shop becomes a studio

After nineteen years on the high street, we've moved the whole operation into a private studio.
It wasn't a retreat. A shop floor sets the ceiling on what you can make — you're always half-serving the door. The studio gives us the room and the uninterrupted hours the larger installation work actually needs.
You're still very welcome to come to us — just let us know you're coming.
Where the flowers come from
We buy direct from growers in the Netherlands and select the stems ourselves rather than taking a standing order. We take our time and it's the single biggest reason our work looks the way it does.
